Grip your arms and legs with knots and ache your muscles. Your stomach, too, has cramps. Can the pain be linked? It is probable that you will get the other one if you have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or fibromyalgia. Often, they occur together, but it is not understood how they are connected.

Disorders of functions

Fibromyalgia exists in just a few individuals in the US. But it’s far more prevalent for individuals with IBS. More than half of IBS patients have fibromyalgia symptoms too.

“In generally they will probably coexist for years, but at the same time or in different times they will be capable of flaring,” said Lin Chang, MD, co-director of the Oppenheimer Center of Stress Neurobiology.

Functional disorders are known as IBS and fibromyalgia. That’s when you don’t work your body as it should, but doctors can’t see you wrong.

IBS pain focuses on the inner organs of your body. You have another type of pain in your skin and deep tissue with fibromyalgia. Even if the source of discomfort comes from various locations, scientists and physicians think that their causes are linked.

Daniel, MD, Director of the University of Michigan’s Chronic Pain and Fatigue Research Center in the journal, says that many specialists think it is a lifelong disease that creates pain over time and locations.

How they are related with each other?

You have more brain activity in the areas that treat pain with both circumstances. You can enhance your feeling of pain.

However, your nervous system is overly susceptible or hyper-active in these functional disorders. It is believed that your immune systems play a part and physicians also look at genetics.

Any such functional disorders can lead to stress. More than half of patients with fibromyalgia reported posttraumatic stress disorder, a disease which impacts the brain, in one study.

What are you capable of doing?

IBS and fibromyalgia may be helpful to antidepressants. You may also have sleep, headaches, anxieties and depression, so discuss prescription medications with your doctor and assist them.

Pain medications such as opioids are not quite efficient. As unusual as it may seem. Overcrowded NSAID pain medicines, such as ibuprofen or aspirin, are not working well alone, but can be used with fibromyalgia antidepressants.
